Peter’s involvement with the planning of cities has spanned several decades and includes work on new towns in the UK and Australia. As the CEO of four major Councils, including the City of Sydney, the inaugural CEO of Federation Square in Melbourne and as CEO of the Victorian Planning Authority for a decade from 2007 until 2017, he has experienced all aspects of planning and building cities.
He is an industry Fellow at RMIT and head judge for the Victorian UDIA awards.
He has recently published: “Breaking Point: The Future of Australian Cities” which examines ways to manage growth and make our cities more efficient, liveable and equitable.
Peter has been recognised as a member of the Order of Australia for significant service to urban and regional planning and design, to public administration and to local Government.
